Field Work in Wayqecha, Peru

Prof. Louise Rütting is in field work situation March 2025 at Wayqecha biological station near Cuzco, Peru.

With colleagues from UNSAAC UNIVERSITY, Peru and Umeå University, Sweden, we study the effects from fog in the cloud forest (2800 to 3000 m.a.s.l) on epiphytes, fungi and the nutrient cycling.

It's rain season, many orkids are flowering and mushrooms appear.

We have installed all mini containers with leaf litter.

The green net is manipulating air moisture as it catches the drops to create a dry side.
