From 5 to 31 August 2026, the BTU will be hosting the ‘FEM*Lights @ BTU’ poster exhibition at the Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ). Seventeen large-format posters will showcase female researchers and the results of the Female Professors Programme III. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge during the IKMZ’s regular opening hours.

The Berlin Physical Society (Physikalische Gesellschaft zu Berlin e.V.) has awarded the 2026 Physics Student Prize to Björn Riedel from the chair of Applied Physics and Semiconductor Spectroscopy at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU).

On 23 July 2026, Spremberg’s market square became a meeting place for science and society. In collaboration with ‘Wissenschaft im Dialog’, the Spremberg outreach centre engaged members of the public in discussions on current research topics.

During the annual open day for the Architecture, Urban Planning and Civil Engineering study programmes at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, the studios and workshops will be open to offer fascinating insights into the diversity of these practice-oriented studies. The AGEPOL project aims to lay the foundations for a German-Polish health region. The central question is how the health, social inclusion and quality of life of older people in the cross-border region can be sustainably improved.

The Berlin-Brandenburg Business Plan Competition (BPW) has recognised the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and its Founders’ Service for the fourth time as Brandenburg’s leading university for start-ups.

Stefan Restemeier studied Architecture at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Whilst still a student, he founded the lighting company leuchtstoff*. Today, his award-winning lights illuminate museums, hotels, TV productions and conference rooms. He also helped design the new BTU canteen on the main campus in Cottbus – a project close to this alumnus’s heart.
