The Federal President gets to know the chesco

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier traveled to Lusatia with the diplomatic corps and stopped off at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Here he gained an insight into the research and transfer activities of the Center for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus (chesco).

On June 13, the Federal President visited BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg with the diplomatic corps of foreign ambassadors working in Germany. The delegation was accompanied by Minister President Dietmar Woidke, the First Mayor of Cottbus Tobias Schick and the BTU Executive Board. The high ranking visitors were offered an extensive program. Various BTU departments and projects presented their research into climate-friendly future technologies and their undertakings in strengthening the region.

The Center for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus was represented at two stations on the delegation's tour, one focusing on research into hybrid-electric drives and the other on innovative production and transfer services for the regional economy.

At the first stop, the guests were able to inspect the hybrid-electric aircraft model and gain an insight into the construction plans for the new chesco building and the various functional areas of the research center. The chesco team used the demonstartor of a copper coil to show what research is currently being carried out in the projects.

The second station focused on the production methods used in the chesco research factory and the transfer projects that are carried out here. Objects of components also show the possibilities of the production halls and how they can be used for various industries outside the mobility sector.

The Federal President and the group of diplomats were impressed by the technologies and infrastructure that are being developed here in Lusatia.
