Research at Faculty 3

The faculty’s main focus is on BTU’s research field "Energy Efficiency and Sustainability".
Future fields are highly efficient, modern drives and energy- and resource-saving, sustainable product development and production. This includes the already very successful area of aircraft engine technology, with the Rolls-Royce UTC "Multidisciplinary Process Integration" as well as research towards efficient, safe and low-emission aircraft engines and corresponding production and IT processes. In addition, energy conversion and energy management including energy-efficient lightweight solutions are central to the development of vehicles. The focus here is on MMD solutions (multi-material design) with fibre composites and metals as well as the required manufacturing technologies and processes. This includes a multidisciplinary, integrated approach that takes a holistic view of relevant problems.
