Aim of the doctorate
The aim of a doctorate is to demonstrate the ability to conduct independent scientific research. This ability is assessed by means of a scientific thesis (dissertation) and an oral examination. Upon successful completion of the doctorate, the doctoral degree is awarded.
Requirements:
- Relevant university degree (Master's, Diploma or equivalent qualification)
- Foreign qualifications must be equivalent
Time limit:
A period of up to 6 years is allocated for the doctoral programme. If the processing time takes longer than 6 years, written notification must be submitted before the end of the allocated period. If no notification to continue the dissertation project is submitted, doctoral student status expires after 6 years.
