At BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, research on climate change and climate protection as well as sustainable development is carried out at different geographical scales and from different disciplinary perspectives. However, the success of the sustainable development project will depend not least on whether the complexity of the various interdependencies between climate change, social injustice and unequal power relations with environmental and resource issues are understood. This requires suitable communication formats that shed light on the problem of the climate crisis - as an interdisciplinary, cross-cutting issue - and translate it into concrete knowledge for action. In addition to the many individual activities in research projects and in the teaching of individual chairs, BTU lacks an overarching module that bundles the existing expertise and perspectives, makes sustainable use of synergies and also acts as a transfer to urban society. From the summer semester 2022, the new BTU4Future module will be offered, providing students from all disciplines and the interested public with a comprehensive overview of climate research at BTU and thus promoting inter- and transdisciplinary understanding. The "BTU4Future Festival" will take place on 9/10.2.23 as part of the project.
