In order to achieve effects as quickly as possible on the path to emission-free and climate-neutral aviation, hybrid-electric drives for regional flights fill the gap between lighter, battery-powered aircraft for short distances and the turbine-powered long-haul aircraft that will still be needed in the long term. The most important component for this is a lightweight, compact turbo generator system to provide highly efficient electrical power for the electric drives. As part of a LuFo project, the centrifugal compressor of the turbo generator is to be designed. In particular, design processes for the design of the inlet and centrifugal compressor must be developed based on suitable geometry parameterization, 1D to 3D flow calculations and multi-criteria optimization calculations.

For this purpose, the Chair of Technical Mechanics and Vehicle Dynamics at the BTU is looking for a research assistant with the possibility of doing a doctorate as of January 1, 2024, subject to approval of the research project. The processing time is expected to be 42 months.
