Scientists set up a microscope in the physics laboratory
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

Description

Physics is the key to a modern understanding of nature and forms the basis of all modern future technologies. Studying physics means understanding the laws of the physical world and learning how to apply them. The bachelor's degree in physics provides the necessary tools.

As one of two universities, BTU offers the opportunity to study physics in Brandenburg. The special feature of our study programme is the supervision-intensive and practice-oriented education. Students are already integrated into research projects in the bachelor phase. Through close cooperation with research institutes such as the Leibniz-Institute for Innovations for High Performance Electronics (IHP) or the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS), students can also conduct research at non-university institutions. These experiences pay off later with excellent career prospects and perfect prerequisites for a subsequent master's degree in physics or anglo-physics.

The course of the Bachelor's degree in Physics is divided into a basic course in the first semesters, in-depth modules in connection with the key research area (such as nanophysics, i.e. the investigation of electronic and optical phenomena in solid state nanostructures, or the physics of condensed matter, i.e. the investigation of the structure and properties of solids and their surfaces) of the Institute of Physics, and a final semester, which is used for the research module and the Bachelor's thesis.

In cooperation with the Poznan University of Technology (PUT), a double bachelor's degree is offered, which leads to a Bachelor of Science degree from BTU and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from PUT after seven semesters.
