Welcome to our website

We are pleased to welcome you as a

  • newly appointed professor,
  • newly appointed junior professor,
  • young scientist or young scientist, or as a
  • Executive

with your partner.

At the BTU, support is provided in particular to partners of newly appointed professors, researchers, and executives in the area of central administration and service institutions if they have to give up their sphere of activity due to the partner's move to the BTU. All target groups are required to have been in Cottbus for no longer than one year at the time of contact.

With its Dual Career Guideline, the BTU, as a family-oriented university, has set itself the goal of supporting dual careers and offering dual career couples a place to live and work together. In doing so, it addresses the individual needs of newly hired scientists and executives with their partners or families. In line with the diversity principle, diverse couple constellations are supported.

The policy funds the expansion of diversity and the realization of gender equality goals, the improvement of the compatibility of family tasks with work, and the opportunity- and family-friendly design of the university.

  • questions about reconciling family responsibilities with a professional career
  • Questions about childcare and schools as well as caregiving responsibilities
  • Questions about residence law issues

Consulting Principles

What are the first steps?

  • At the beginning of the cooperation is the contact (by e-mail, phone or in person) with you.
  • Each consultation is based on your individual needs.
  • In an initial consultation, mutual expectations are discussed and aligned with the resources of the Dual Career Service.
  • All agreed activities of the Dual Career Service proceed in accordance with the legal and formal framework for staffing and recruitment procedures.

It goes without saying that data protection is guaranteed. Thus, all consulting contents are confidential. Your data or documents will not be passed on without your consent.

Despite extensive efforts, the BTU cannot guarantee placement success; this applies in particular to obtaining a supervisor or job.

The BTU is a member of the Dual Career Network Germany and works in accordance with the Dual Career Service quality criteria of this network.
