UNHIDING URBAN MATTERS: Hansaviertel and Stalinallee summer 2014
this summer's seminar focuses on a first approach to architectural tools and methods to investigate the city. the seminar builds upon the application and the deepening of insight from continuous supervised research, literature reviews, in-class discussions, city-walks and on-site workshops held in berlin. we will critically investigate specific urban landscapes with a special emphasis on excavating urban narratives, the social and subjective phenomena hidden therein. by mapping and unhiding these matters -- such as conflicts, negotiations, frictions or potential qualities of an urban environment -- the seminar aims to create a deeper understanding of the multifaceted city and the processes and networks in place. students taking part in this seminar will be encouraged to incorporate their own individual interests and professional backgrounds. the research outputs from the seminar will be presented to a broader audience in form of a final publication.
this semester's seminar is supervised by Dipl.-Ing. MArch Katrin Rheingans and Mag.Arch. MA Lukas Staudinger
