UNSC

Waris Aziz Akash

“It is my pleasure to serve as the Chair of UNSC at BTUMUN 2021. I hope that the delegates will find the committee to be informative both in the discussed topics as well as in the diversity of people that they meet. I would encourage you to make the most of it by preparing well and taking an active part in the committee sessions!

I am currently an undergraduate in Business Studies at North South University, Bangladesh and an IELTS Instructor at British Council. When I was a lost student wandering around at my new university, I stumbled into a room with now familiar faces and became a victim of the MUN fever. There's been no turning back ever since. My MUN experiences have been as a delegate, a Secretariat Board as well as an Executive Board Member in over 100 MUNs. I find these committee sessions as a mentally gratifying experience. Needless to say, I have developed an obsession with MUNs. I very much look forward to meeting all of the delegates at the conference!”

Ali Faraz Bhatti

“Hello everyone, I’m Ali Faraz Bhatti from Islamabad, Pakistan and I’m currently a first year Law student at the National University of Sciences and Technology. I have been doing MUN’s since 2015 and I still remember the nervousness I faced in my first committee session. But since then I have come a long way and have participated in over 15 conferences. Apart from winning awards, my honours include being a conference ambassador and a director of a conference’s secretariat. This hobby turned into a passion over the years and has had everlasting impacts on my personality. I’ll be your UNSC chair and I’m looking forward to a healthy academic debate from which we can take away and learn something new. See you soon in June!”

I am pursuing my Bachelors in both Technology and Information Technology. I am a member of the Impetus Student Society, a management group that organizes numerous events, including Model UN conferences.

Nowadays I am a professional Model UN fanatic who has been working in the circuit for the past 5 years, with decent experience in national and international conferences. Thus I was able to work with a number of renowned organizations such as the Geneva International Model United Nations, London International Model UN, and many others.

In my spare time, I enjoy researching aspects theoretically relevant to science, politics, innovations and learning about various cultures and different human philosophies. In the end I’d like to quote one of my idols before concluding, “Win a no win situation by rewriting the rules.” by Harvey Specter

Rian Difa Subagio

Hello, Universe - I’m Rian Difa Subagio but you can call me Gio. I'm a Senior Accounting student at Sebelas Maret University, Indonesia, as well as an active Senior Auditor. My MUN career began during my freshman year, by joining Jogjakarta International Model United Nations Society as a Delegates on the G20 council. I have a keen interest in international social development and justice diplomacy which has brought me to various MUN councils, including WHO at Virtual MUN2020, UNHRC in ALSA EFest University of Indonesia, and being best delegates at ALSA MUN Class at Diponegoro University Indonesia. I see Model UN conferences as a perfect platform for participants to develop their skills  in debating, in-depth research, negotiation, politics and everything within the same spectrum.

It is a huge honour for me to be a chairperson together with Aryan Singh and conduct your debate. A big thank you to the BTUMUN society for organizing the event and making it possible to meet online during these times.

Nikolas Banzuela

My name is Nikolas and I am a MUNer hailing from the Philippines. Having started my MUN career in 2016, I have actively engaged in not only MUNs in the Philippines, but also abroad. Having amassed over 40+ conferences both physical and online, I was able to experience being a delegate, dais, and an organizer. It not only opened my mind to the world of international relations but also gave me the possibility to connect with different people from various nationalities while enhancing my skills in critical thinking and public speaking.

Currently, my MUN career has turned more professional by becoming a mentor and trainer for various school delegations and individual delegates where I could pass on my acquired knowledge and hone the skills of the next generation of delegates eager to step into the world of the academic rigor that MUNs try to express.  Outside of the MUN circuit, I have a major fondness for cooking and trying out new dishes, binge-watching Netflix shows to not remind myself of the constant woes of COVID-19, and studying literature, particularly the character arcs, development and relationships.
