Secretary-General (Rezwan Ahmed)

“A very warm welcome also from my side. I am Rezwan from beautiful Sylhet, Bangladesh. Currently I am studying towards my M.Sc. in Environmental and Resource Management at BTU. My main goal was to establish the BTUMUN society as well as introduce the United Nations and the MUN culture among the students of our university.

My personal Model UN journey started a few years back, and within this timeframe, I was able to become part of many MUN conferences as a delegate, chairperson, and Director-General. I am very much optimistic about BTUMUN 2021and believe that this UN simulation will raise awareness about our global issues among our younger generation and help them come up with innovative solutions for a better world.

Media and Design (Azad Thapa)

Hey I am Azad and I am currently doing my Masters in World Heritage Studies. I studied architecture in Nepal and I like to travel and learn more about the impact of culture. I joined BTUMUN to broaden my diplomacy skills and learn about the current issues that we face around the world as well as come up with effective solutions. For BTUMUN 2021 I am responsible for media and design.

PR & Delegates Officer (Mareike Herold)

“Hey everyone, Mareike here! I am pursuing my Masters Degree in World Heritage Studies and I am passionate about everything surrounding culture, natural heritage and travel. My main goal in joining BTUMUN society was to improve my public speaking and diplomacy skills, as well as meet new exciting people from our university. I count myself as a newcomer to Model UN but quite enjoy the simulations of conferences. For BTUMUN 2021 I am in charge of everything communication related and also answering your questions e.g. regarding the application process.

Fun Fact: I have quite the knack for remembering song names and lyrics. On occasion, my closest friends have called me their personal jukebox (comparison not on point because I can't sing that well).”

Marketing Officer (Ayuba Abubakar Salihu)

“Hello guys, I am Salihu Ayuba , 24 years old and from Nigeria. Currently studying for my Masters degree at BTU. I joined BTUMUN because it deals with youth and global development, public speaking and intellectual capacity building (things I am passionate about).

My Journey as a MUNer is quite young but I have been an experienced debater and public speaker for a very long time, which includes winning some awards and being a runner up in an African International debate. At BTUMUN I hope to improve my skills in terms of international diplomatic arguments and working in a team with fellow colleagues.

Fun Fact: I pride myself on being a very good cook as well as being able to make everyone laugh are around me”

Content Officer (Shahar Ban Karyaparamban)

“Hello, I am Shahar, born and raised in the Indian culture. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s Degree in Environmental Resource Management in Cottbus. I joined the BTUMUN society,  because I could identify with the UN principles and would love to gain more insight into it. I call myself a newcomer to the Model UN framework and therefore am immensely excited for the upcoming conference in June (with all of the wonderful debates).

Personal Favourites: Minimalism and everything related to nature. I love to cook, farm and paint in my freetime, as well as surround myself with dedicated and hardworking people.

Fun Fact: Intermittent fasting and yoga are my secret joys.”

Logistics Officer (Bojan Kahlau)

“Hey everyone, my name is Bojan from Germany. I’m currently in my 4th semester of the Environmental Resource Management Bachelors programme and a newcomer to Model UN. I decided to join the society because the idea of MUN’s fascinates me: One can improve valuable skills like communication, teamwork and leadership but also foster cultural understanding and fruitful discussions.

Personal favourites: reading, watching documentaries and meeting friends (even though this is virtually at the moment).

Fun Fact: I quite enjoy stuffed grape leaves, they are delicious!

I am very much looking forward to BTUMUN 2021 and meeting you all during the online conference later this year.”
