Prof. Dr. phil. Jutta Ströter-Bender teaches and does research at the Institut für Kunst, Musik und Textil (Institute for Art, Music and Textiles) at the University of Paderborn in the following fields of arts education: concepts of painting and cultural philosophy, World Heritage education, arts and religion, as well as mythology and media culture. She has published numerous publications on the topic World Heritage education. She is the publisher of the E-Journal for World Heritage and arts education and is a consultant for educational strategies for World Heritage sites. For her involvement in the fields of World Heritage education, she received a research prize of the University of Paderborn in 2002 and an award of the Ministry of Education and Research in the year 2007. Prof. Ströter-Bender does research on World Heritage and gender questions, whereby she examines in particular the current discussions and controversies on the regional and global strategies of dealing with cultural heritage are taking place on the basis of culturally produced or transformed models and conceptions of sexuality and gender differences. Furthermore, she conducts research on colonial spaces in the fields of World Heritage, on the connection of World Heritage and colonialism and their communication and thematisation in the heritage discourse. Further topics are on education, aesthetic traditions and spaces in heritage education. Prof. Ströter-Bender will supervise Ph.D.-theses in focus area 2.
