Prof. Dr. phil. Magdalena Droste has published numerous art-historic research works, just recently the edited volume “The Bauhaus-Modernity and its Myths”. Frau Prof. Droste distinguishes herself also as an expert for the field musealisation of heritage, which is problematic in the World Heritage context, as well as questions of restitution of art. Until now, the field musealisation has almost not been taught at universities. But there is a great need for a critical reflection with regards to conception of collections, self-portrayal and the built presence of museum sites. In this context, essential and significant questions that concern colonial heritage, north-south relations and the socio-political significance of museal-cultural practices, are of crucial significance. Prof. Droste will supervise Ph.D.-topics of focus area 1.
