During the Islamic Era in Egypt (7th to 18th century A.D) the water resources were well managed. Both historical and archaeological evidences have proved that the Muslims were worked for management and preservation of all available water resources in Egypt. So, the aim of this research is to explore the Islamic policies and methodologies which have been used for preservation and management of the water resources in Egypt for more than eleven centuries and how we can benefit from these policies and methodologies to solve the current problems of the water in Egypt.

Short Bio:

Elsayed YONES obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic and Coptic Archaeology from Faculty of Archaeology Cairo University, Egypt in 2000. From 2002 until 2008, he worked as inspector of Archaeology at the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA). In 2008 he obtained a Master’s degree in Islamic Painting from Faculty of Archaeology Cairo University, Egypt. His Master’s thesis was entitled “Military Battle Miniatures in Ancient Iranian Manuscripts from the Mongol Age until end of the Safavid Age_ Artistic-Archaeological Study”. In 2010 he obtained a Master’s degree in World Heritage Studies, BTU Cottbus. His Master’s thesis was entitled “Abu Mena World Heritage Site Management Plan Proposal”. From 2010 until October 2011, Mr. Yones worked as director of Site Management Department at Ministry of Antiquities, Egypt. In Summer Semester 2012 he became a PhD candidate at the International Graduate School: Heritage Studies. His major research interests lie in the field of cultural heritage.
