Prometheus - a new database

We have licenced a digital image archive for research and teaching.

prometheus is a digital image archive for art and cultural studies with more than 1.5 million digital reproductions of 92 databases.

Research and museum databases with detailed object information are just as included as institute databases with image material for teaching.

The footage comes from the fields of art and cultural history, archeology and other image-based sciences. With prometheus, these images can be researched via a search mask, sorted into image collections and assembled into presentations for lectures.

Databases with public domain images are offered in an open access area.

There are also various tools for learning on the webpage, see Tools and Learning.

The project, formerly funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is supported by a non-profit association for the purpose of promoting science and research.
