Further publications
In addition to dissertations and postdoctoral theses, members of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and other people whose work is related to BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg can also deposit other scientific documents such as essays, congress reports or working papers in the digital repository OPUS. The documents are thus available worldwide, are permanently archived and can be found via search engines.
If you are interested and have any questions about publishing on the repository, please contact us.
OPUS offers the option of publishing a range of document types. In general, the following types of electronic documents can be published in the digital repository:

- Copyright-free digitised monographs and journals
A detailed list of all document types and their descriptions can be found in our repository.
All documents published in the repository must meet certain technical standards. Documents are expected to be in PDF/A format, text and images must be copyable, the document must contain active bookmarks, and document properties such as title, author and keywords should already be stored in the source text if possible.
For all documents published in the repository, we require a signed declaration of consent from the authors or, if applicable, the editors, granting us a simple right of publication. All other rights of use remain with the authors.
Detailed instructions on how to meet the technical requirements can be found at
Online publications & Formal and technical requirements for documents
The following information is required for enquiries about individual publications:
- Title
- authors
- Type of document
- Date of publication
- If applicable, background or motivation of the publication ...
If possible, find out whether you would like to grant a Creative Commons licence.
You are also welcome to upload the corresponding document, if it already exists, via our publication form. Here you can also enter all the important information about the document. Please note the formal and technical requirements for the document. The document will be checked by us and we will contact you regarding the next steps.
Publication series are continuous publications whose individual parts have independent titles and which do not necessarily appear regularly.
Several series have already been published in the OPUS repository and you can find an overview of the series there.
If you would like to set up a publication series, we will create a corresponding collection in the repository with the title of the publication series.
In principle, the same rules apply to documents in the series as to all other documents in the repository:
- All rights must be clarified (illustrations, publication, etc.)
- The documents should be in PDF/A format, instructions
- All authors must agree to the publication. For this purpose, we require an original signed declaration of consent from the authors or, on their behalf, the editors for the repository, granting us the right to publish. Please send this to the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg University Publications Office.
An ISSN is required for publication series. This must be applied for by the publishers themselves. You can find information on how to apply for an ISSN on the DNB website.
Each document within the publication series receives its own DOI and URN as standard.
There is no obligation to publish examination papers, bachelor theses and master theses. However, it is possible that outstanding theses (with a grade of 1.7 or better) with lasting professional relevance can be published on the BTU's digital repository. Supervisors and lecturers can approve publication on the repository.
The University Library also offers publication to the winners of the University Prize for the best Bachelor's and Master's thesis.
A confirmation from the responsible supervisor or professor is required for publication. In order to be able to publish the thesis on OPUS, chairs in consultation with the authors or the authors themselves can register and upload the theses to the digital repository via our publication form.
Please note any restriction notice on the thesis before publication. In this case, the thesis cannot be published in most cases.
