Doctoral committee
The doctoral committee is a body that conducts and decides on doctoral procedures. It evaluates the dissertation, conducts the oral examination and decides on the completion of the doctorate.
Composition
The doctoral committee consists of at least three members, including a chairperson and two examiners. In addition, other university lecturers and research assistants with doctoral degrees may also be members in an advisory capacity. As a rule, the total number of members should not exceed six.
Tasks of the doctoral committee
- Conducting the doctoral procedure
- Evaluating the dissertation (based on the reviews)
- Conducting and evaluating the oral examination (defence)
- Determining the overall grade
- Issuing the print-ready note (approval for publication)
- Completing the procedure up to the presentation of the doctoral certificate
