ICARUS Individual Competence Advancement with Reliable Feedback as Assessment in Continuous Learning

Laufzeit Runtime

12/2024 - 11/2026

The EU-funded ICARUS project aims to offer support for lifelong learners throughout their learning cycles. The aim is also to develop personal skills and qualities such as communication, self-motivation and openness.

Teaching often focuses on technical expertise and specialist knowledge. However, according to the guidelines of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK), self-competence and social competence should also be developed. ICARUS wants to use the current EU competence descriptions to systematise them for learning and make them usable in the long term. Teachers should also be supported in developing self-competence and social competence.

The overall goal of the project is to develop a web app that will serve as a Kompass-Tool (a tool that guides learners through their learning processes) to individually guide learners through their learning processes. This will support both learners and teachers in their respective professional fields and different sectors in setting and achieving individual competence development goals.
The project team wants students to improve their key skills with the help of the app and thus be better prepared for the challenges of the modern job market. Key skills include, above all, the ability to learn continuously and independently and to deal with changing conditions in the world of work. This also affects learners in the health professions, especially physiotherapy, and is becoming increasingly important due to demographic change.

The ICARUS project is an international initiative involving various partner institutions from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, the Netherlands and Austria and from different educational fields and sectors. The aim is to take into account the diversity of educational opportunities on the one hand and the educational diversity of different sectors and countries on the other. This collaboration aims to promote intercultural exchange and the development of best practices tailored to the specific needs of the different partner countries.
