As part of the DeCarbon Days on June 25, 2026, at BTU, the “DeCarbon Drafts” competition offers doctoral researchers a stage to present their findings in an innovative pitch format and win attractive prizes.

The junior research group led by Dr. Marius Klug was evaluated on 15 December 2025. Following the successful completion of this interim evaluation, the Young Investigator Group “Intuitive XR” has been extended until March 2028.

On 2 December 2025, the BTU Welcome Centre, the Graduate Research School, and the PhD Programme Coordination once again organised an end-of-year event for young researchers at BTU and their families.

The first onboarding event for new doctoral candidates at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg proved to be a successful networking event that made a significant contribution to the participants getting to know each other and exchanging ideas.

In the winter semester, the Research Department will once again be organising a series of seminars on grant applications to support BTU researchers in their efforts to secure external funding.

The Second Research Day took place on October 15 at the Senftenberg Campus. Young researchers supported by the GRS also received awards.

In January 2026, the GRS will award up to four full PhD scholarships for 36 months and up to four short-term scholarships for six months to support the completion of the PhD thesis. The call for applications closes on September 24, 2025.

The GRS is providing access to the TwentyOne Skills learning platform. This platform is specifically designed for early-career researchers.

The Lausitz Science Network (LSN) and the Cluster Decarbonisation in Industry (CDI) are organising an event which will take place from 9 to 11 September 2025 in Cottbus. Registration is open until 30 June.
