The gas centrifuge - An opportunity to study atmospheric gravity waves in the laboratory
Abstract
Gravity waves have a significant impact on climate and weather dynamics. Up to now it was only possible to study their incompressible siblings experimentally in stratified water. We propose a laboratory experiment utilizing a gas centrifuge that allows to investigate compressible atmospheric-like gravity waves for the first time.
