BTU offers a wide range of counselling and support services to help you complete your doctoral studies successfully. These include individual counselling, workshops, financial support opportunities and networking events. We are here to help and advise you.

Unit for Young Academics

Do you need information about doctoral opportunities or are you unsure whether a doctorate is the right next step in your career? We are happy to support you in your decision-making process and offer individual consultations to answer your questions confidentially before and during your doctoral studies.

Welcome Centre

The Welcome Centre is the central point of contact for international academics coming to BTU for more than three months. We provide advice and support to you and your family on all non-academic and practical matters relating to your work at BTU and your life in Cottbus and Senftenberg.

Unit for Research Funding

The Unit for Research Funding provides information, advice and support services to help you with externally funded research projects. Members of the BTU also have access to various research funding resources, including publication support, assistance with applications for strategically important collaborative projects, and ERC coaching.

Admissions and Registrar's Office

The Admissions and Registrar's Office can assist you with any queries relating to enrolment, withdrawal, re-registration or leave of absence. The teams are also available to answer any questions you may have about student ID cards or semester fees.

Central Study Counselling

The Central Study Counselling  offers comprehensive counselling services to support you through the challenging periods of your studies or doctorate. Whether you need help with stressful situations or time management, our experts are here to help you find solutions that work for you.

Family Office

The BTU is committed to providing doctoral candidates with family-friendly services to support them with their family responsibilities. These range from parent-and-child rooms and children's corners in the library, to counselling services on caring for relatives or balancing an academic career with family life. We create conditions that enable you to harmonise your professional and family commitments.

Health Management

All BTU employees and students have the opportunity to discover current health programmes. The health newsletter regularly features delicious recipes and exercises to do at work. Personalised offers are also available for preventive healthcare, as well as lectures and workshops.

Central Department University Sports

Central Department Language Centre

The BTU Language Centre offers general and specialist language seminars at various levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Its portfolio includes intensive, study-related, curriculum-based and optional face-to-face and online language learning programmes for BTU students and staff.

Studierendenwerk Ost:Brandenburg

Studierendenwerk Ost:Brandenburg is responsible for organising the social infrastructure at the universities in South and East Brandenburg. To this end, it operates canteens and halls of residence, and promotes social and cultural activities at BTU.
