"The beautiful, colourful world of studying and working" - Pictures by Ralf Schuster

This is the 3rd exhibition in the annual series of exhibitions by creative employees and students of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

The world of work and study has changed: But even with home offices or eLearning, colourful libraries, open spaces and design furniture, some tasks are a challenge or even an opportunity to fail. Even if only in the fight against the need to sleep.

Ralf Schuster uses his colourful images to describe everyday life, ironically exaggerating it and commenting on it in his own way. Ralf Schuster is primarily a photographer and has worked as such at the BTU for 30 years. He knows that a realistic depiction of the world works much better with a camera anyway. The drawings offer the opportunity to combine fantasy with reality. Some of the pictures come from the exhibition at the ICMC in 2024 and have been supplemented with both new and older works for the library in Senftenberg.

Through his work, Ralf Schuster knows the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg from all sides, down to the deepest corners, and was inspired by it in many ways. In addition to his media work at the BTU multimedia centre, he is also active as a musician and visual artist in Cottbus and beyond.

In the exhibition "Beautiful colourful world of studying and working", the themes of the university's world of images intersect with the artist's Dadaist creative will. The reference to image photography is intentional and will hopefully give the viewer a lot of pleasure.
