Virtual Reality Lab (IVI: Intuitive Virtual Interaction)

A CAVE developed within the framework of VIT III is available to the Chair of Media Technology. The current VR system has two rear projection screens (2.60 m wide, viewing height from approx. 0.50 m to 2.13 m) set up at an angle of 112°, a floor unit and several graphics computer units (rendering clusters). The floor projection surface is flush with the rear projection screens to allow a smooth image transition. The current system already allows a wide field of view in both horizontal and vertical directions. User tracking and a corresponding VR-capable input device form the basic functionality of user interaction. The user's position is realized via infrared tracking system. In addition, a multi-depth camera system is realized for the VR system, which enables spatial coverage of the workspace based on point clouds.
