On the transformation of the professional habitus of nursing teachers
Runtime
1/2022 until 12/2024
The research project focuses on the question of the influence of the legal changes (nursing profession reform) on the professionalization of nursing teachers and the necessary change in attitude from nursing to teaching. In this context, tacit knowledge is of particular interest, which is to be reconstructed and elaborated in the project. A deeper insight into the process of "habitus transformation" as described by the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu is expected. Such changes take place to a considerable extent implicitly.
The methodological design of the qualitative approach focuses on these forms of knowledge: The planned expert interviews focus attention on a detailed narrative recapitulation of the occupational biography in which habitus changes can be revealed. In the planned group discussions , attention will be paid to the discursive use of implicit collective knowledge that can support such transformations. The additionally planned teaching ethnographies take a look at the unconsciously ingrained or still uncertain practices of teaching, which point to "breaking points" of professional habitualization.
