Best BTU STEM Student Award

Cathy Sulaiman was awarded the ‘Best STEM Student’ prize on Teaching Day, 9 July 2026.

Cathy Sulaiman received the award for her outstanding academic performances and her community involvement.

Cathy undertook her Master’s thesis, entitled ‘Growth and characterisation of TaSe₂ on Au(111) by low-energy electron microscopy’, at the Chair of Applied Physics and Semiconductor Spectroscopy, and successfully defended it in February 2026.

Cathy is currently continuing her research as a doctoral candidate in the Experimental Physics chair at the University of Duisburg-Essen. 

The prize is awarded annually by the Equal Opportunities Office at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
