Teaching and research at the Chair of Environmental Economics concentrate on the application of economic knowledge to problems of environmental and resource management. The research focuses on the economic analysis of

  1. environmental policy instruments, including their institutional design and the related policy process,
  2. strategies and policies for biodiversity conservation (in particular by applying ecologic-economic models which are developed in cooperation with ecologists), 
  3. policy instruments to protect ecosystem services in developed and developing countries and
  4. nature-based climate adaptation measures.

Teaching concentrates on the economic courses required for the different Bachelor- and Master programmes of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Process Engineering (Environmental and Resource Management, Landnutzung und Wasserbewirtschaftung, Umweltingenieurswesen).
