Joint Urban Design Workshop Cottbus "Old Town New" 2011
Case study area: Cottbus at the Marien-Church / Old Bus Station

The most important lessons of the workshop were to work cooperatively together and to elaborate urban design solutions for the challenges of the development of the inner city area of the old bus station in Cottbus, next to the Marien Church. The topic of the workshop was "Old-Town-New", this is linked to the case study area, for which new functions, new building typologies, a renewal of public spaces and a 're-discovery' of the urban structure in the context of the framing historic structure is needed. Basic information and further analysis about the situation of the study- and design area were presented and discussed at the beginning of the workshop.
Integrated in the workshop we had the one day conference "Vitalization of historic City Districts, an Initial for sustainable Development". The conference had the goal to discuss and to reflect together the general topic of the cooperation network - the development of historic city districts.
