Prof. Dr. Frank Wätzold
(Project leader)
Prof. Dr. Frank Wätzold is professor at the Chair of Environmental Economics at the BTU. His research areas include the economic analysis of environmental policy instruments including their institutional framework and the preceding policy process, as well as the economic analysis of strategies and policies to conserve biodiversity, in particular with the support of ecological-economic models. Frank Wätzold is particularly involved in the calculation of agricultural costs, the design of policy instruments and ecological-economic modeling.

Charlotte Gerling
(Project manager)
Charlotte Gerling is a PhD student at the Chair of Environmental Economics at the BTU and has studied Environmental and Resource Management at the BTU. In Ecoclimb she works on the agroeconomic cost assessment, the design of policy instruments under climate change and ecological-economic modelling.

Dr. Astrid Sturm
Dr. Astrid Sturm is a computer scientist and works as postdoc at the Chair of Environmental Economics at the BTU. Astrid’s main research focus is on algorithm design. In recent years she worked in joint research groups with economist and ecologist to develop ecological-economic models. She translated the models into algorithms, for example, she designed and implemented the decisions support software DSS-Ecopay.

Dr. Dr. Martin Drechsler
Dr. Dr. Martin Drechsler is a seniour scientist at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, Department of Ecological Modelling. His research interests include the ecological, economic and ecological-economic modeling of strategies and market-based instruments for the conservation of biodiversity. Within Ecoclimb, Martin Drechsler contributes to the ecological modeling and is responsible for the uncertainty and robustness analyses.

Johannes Leins
Johannes Leins is PhD student in the Department of Ecological Modelling at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig. He studied Environmental Modelling at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg. In Ecoclimb he models, implements and simulates the ecological dynamic processes and develops scenarios for a long-term conservation of the project species.

Dr. Klaus Keuler
Dr. Klaus Keuleris senior researcher and deputy head at the Chair of Environmental Meteorology at the BTU. His main research area is the statistical and physical analysis of regional climate patterns and their potential change under different global change scenarios, mainly based on regional and global climate simulations with physical-dynamical climate models, in particular high resolution regional climate models like COSMO-CLM. An important part of his research is the quality assessment (evaluation), the quantification of uncertainties and the improvement of regional climate simulations over Europe.

Dr. Kai Radtke
Dr. Kai Radtke is senior researcher at the Chair of Environmental Meteorology at the BTU. His research interests are in the area of climate modeling and the investigation of regional climate and possible climate change in Europe. The main focus is on statistical analyses of climate change projection results over Europe aiming to assess various specific aspects of climate change including the consideration of ranges and uncertainties.

Dr. Björn Schulz
Dr. Björn Schulz is a member of the department „project development“ in the Schleswig-Holstein State Foundation for Nature Conservation. For more than 10 years he has been working for the practical reconnection of habitats and populations in changing landscapes. Part of his work is the understanding of processes beyond the recent loss of biodiversity and the development and use of practical conservation strategies.

Lisa Querhammer
Lisa Querhammer works for the Naturschutzstiftung Heidekreis in the area of planning and consulting of nature conservation measures in grassland areas. She studied organic agricultural sciences at the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen with a focus on production integrated nature conservation. As a stakeholder in Ecoclimb, she supports the provision of data for the project region and provides feedback through practical application of project approaches and results.

Ina Stöckmann
Ina Stöckmann works in the „AllerGrün-Project“ of the Naturschutzstiftung Heidekreis in the areas of project coordination, public relations, implementation of nature conservation measures and measurement of results. Mrs. Stöckmann studied environmental safety B.Sc. and Agricultural Sciences M.Sc. As a stakeholder in Ecoclimb, she supports the provision of data for the project region and provides feedback through practical application of project approaches and results.

Dr. Volker Saggau
Dr. Volker Saggau is an agricultural economist employed at the ministry of agriculture and the environment in the federal state Schleswig-Holstein. He works in the field of contractual nature conservation on agricultural farm land. Part of his work is modeling and analysing agricultural- and environmental economic effects of programs.
