Modelling of real-world processes often involves high-dimensional stochastic differential equations with multiple time and length scales. In many cases the relevant behaviour is given by the largest scales in the system (representing, e.g., a phase transition), the direct numerical simulation of which is difficult. Our group's research is centered around model reduction and optimal control of high-dimensional stochastic differential equations with multiple scales and their application in science and engineering.
