
Der Lehrstuhl Interkulturalität mit Schwerpunkt Kultur- und Wissenssoziologie versteht das Soziale als Ergebnis von Wechselwirkungen zwischen Diskursen, Narrativen und sozialen Praktiken. In der Forschung werden essentialistische Kulturbegriffe vermieden, stattdessen wird ein sozialkonstruktivistischer und praxeologischer Zugang gewählt. Schwerpunkte liegen unter anderem in den Bereichen Transnationalitäts- und Migrationsstudien, Heritage Studies sowie Ungleichheit und Intersektionalität. Das Fachgebiet beschäftigt sich kritisch mit globalen Machtverhältnissen und gesellschaftlichen Zugehörigkeiten im Kontext von Migration, Kolonialismus und Globalisierung. In der Lehre werden kultur- und wissenssoziologische sowie intersektionale Ansätze in verschiedenen Studiengängen wie World Heritage Studies, Transformation Studien oder Digitale Gesellschaft vermittelt.

| Connecting Threads: Community Building through Vyshyvanka: E. Sienra leads a series of collective embroidery workshops with Ukrainian master embroiderers, for the Ukrainian community to learn and practice vyshyvanka needlework.
