Public Lecture Series and Post-Grad Research Colloquium May - July 2021

These events are organized within the frame of the project “Rehabilitation of Urban Heritage in the Cities of Iraq” funded by the DAAD which is an academic collaboration between the Middle East Cooperation Unit at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU), the University of Baghdad, and the University of Sulaimani.

The colloquium is closed to the post-grad students of the three partner universities and supports them in preparation of their Master-thesis or PhD dissertation. The lecture series, however, are open to the public (attendance requires registration) and take place every Tuesday at 12:00 CET for a duration of about one hour followed with Q&As. We also share these lectures with a broader network working on the Syrian Heritage and post-war reconstruction.

The aim of the lecture series is to bring professionals, academics and experts together with students and practitioners in order to explore different inspiring themes within the program’s general interest, shed light on new discourses, expand on the old ones, and rethink heritage, war, reconstruction, revitalizing and regeneration of urban realities beyond the classic concepts of restoration and rehabilitation.
