PbL

The Chair of Polymer-based Lightweight Construction at BTU Cottbus - Senftenberg is responsible for the following core tasks within the project:

  • Selection and characterisation of the starting materials (FRP, hybrid FRP/M multilayer composites, metals)
  • Basic tests for the production of FRP and hybrid FRP/M multilayer composites with varying process parameters for the targeted adjustment of residual stresses
  • Material mechanical characterisation of orthotropic UD single layers and anisotropic multilayer composites
  • Analytical and numerical description of the structural and failure behaviour of hybrid FRP/M multilayer composites and determination of residual stresses under the influence of temperature and media
  • Experimental determination of the induced residual stresses using indirect measurement methods
  • Design and production studies on low residual stress hybrid FRP/M multilayer composites using elastic buffer layers and specifically adapted layer structures

LFT

The Chair of Joining and Welding Technology at BTU Cottbus - Senftenberg is responsible for the following core tasks within the project:

  • Production of mixed joints using the semi-tubular self-pierce riveting process and the flow-hole-forming direct screwing process without pre-hole operation
  • Bonding process combinations
  • Production and characterisation of single-cut metal-FRP/M and CFRP-FRP/M overlap joints
  • Identification of process windows for joint production
  • Investigations into the influence of the joint on the mechanical-technological properties
  • Qualification and iterative optimisation of the joining technology and parameters as well as quantification of the joint properties
