Second place in the Lusatian Science Transfer Prize 2019

The winners of this year's Lusatian Science Transfer Prize (LWTP) were announced in Klettwitz on Monday, 16 April 2019. The Lausitzring was chosen by the Wirtschaftsinitiative Lausitz e.V. (WiL) as the venue for honouring the innovative projects. Against the imposing backdrop of the race track, the Chair of Lightweight Design with Structured Materials (LsW), in collaboration with EAB Gebäudetechnik Luckau GmbH, was delighted to take second place for the "Development of a new type of adaptive fibre composite rotor blade". This is the third time in a row that the chair has succeeded in beating the competition with a collaborative project and receiving an award from the expert jury.

First place at the AVK Innovation Award 2018

At this year's AVK Innovation Award, the partnership between LKT Lausitzer Klärtechnik GmbH and the Chair of Lightweight Design with Structured Materials at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg beat off the competition to take first place in the Processes/Procedures category with the project "FlexReha®- Novel fibre composite-based rehabilitation process for season-independent structural rehabilitation of heavily stressed concrete pump shafts in existing buildings".

The AVK - Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe e.V. awards its prize to special innovations in the field of fibre-reinforced plastics (FRP) / composites.

Second place in the Lusatian Science Transfer Prize 2018

At this year's 7th Lusatian Science Transfer Prize (LWTP) organised by the Wirtschaftsinitiative Lausitz e.V. (WiL), the cooperation between TTZ GmbH & Co KG and Prof. Seidlitz's Chair of Lightweight Design with Structured Materials paid off. With their project "Highly efficient lightweight heat transfer system through targeted utilisation of the high anisotropic heat conduction properties of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP)", they were able to prevail among numerous participants and ultimately take home second place.

The LWTP honours particularly outstanding collaborations between science and industry.

Award at the VDI Prize 2018 "Man and Technology"
Jonas Krenz convinced the jury with his work "The development of a track bike handlebar in fibre composite construction for the German national Olympic team" and won one of this year's VDI prizes on the topic of "Man and Technology". The innovative work was honoured by the VDI Bezirksverein Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. on 26 October in Berlin.

Silver at the IQ Innovation Award Central Germany 2017 for the Chair of LsW

The IQ Innovation Award Central Germany 2017 once again honoured innovative, marketable products, processes and services in Central Germany's key industries, which were grouped into five clusters: automotive, chemicals/plastics, energy/environment/solar industry, information technology and life sciences.

Prof. Seidlitz's Chair of Lightweight Design with Structured Materials was the only university to qualify for the final in a field of 149 applications and was only beaten by the eventual overall winner in the Automotive cluster.

The jury was very impressed by the innovative joining technology for the production of multi-material designs and presented the certificate to Felix Kuke and Prof. Holger Seidlitz on 20 June 2017 at the "Neue Welt" concert hall and ballroom in Zwickau.

This is the fourth current AIF-ZIM project from the Chair of Lightweight Design with Structured Materials to be recognised for its innovative technology.
