Project Funding for Equal Opportunities ("GENial")

With this premium fund, the BTU recognizes and promotes initiatives in the six faculties that are aimed at the actual implementation of equal opportunities in teaching and research.

Applications can be submitted throughout the year. This will be used to fund smaller (innovative) projects aimed at reducing gender-based and classist disadvantages in studying, teaching and research. These can be:

  • Events to raise awareness on topics related to equal opportunities (e.g., lecture series for students as future leaders).
  • making female role models in science visible (e.g. through events, exhibitions, brochures)
  • special activities to attract female students in subjects where they are underrepresented (e.g. through videos, films, podcasts)
  • additional measures to attract female professors (e.g. active recruitment)
  • individual career and personnel development of young female scientists (e.g. through mentoring and coaching)
  • Assignment of final theses and seminar papers with gender equality relevance, scientific publications on gender topics
  • Projects for the implementation of gender mainstreaming** in studies, teaching and research
  • Projects to reconcile study, career and family responsibilities

Students and employees of the BTU are eligible to apply. The funding must be earmarked for other measures to promote equality at the BTU. Informal evidence of how the funds will be used must be provided to the Central Equal Opportunity Officer. Approval is subject to the availability of funds. There is no legal entitlement.
Please note the award procedures according to value limits for procurements and services of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, as well as the procedures for fee/work contracts and travel grants.
