Visible Women in Science - Julia Braun is BTU Fellow at Zia ZEIT Verlag
ZEIT Verlag's Zia Fellow program, which was successfully launched in 2022, entered its second round in November 2023. Under the motto "Visible Women in Science - inspire, network, fund", 21 female scientists from various universities will be supported over a period of one year. The fellows are supported in integrating themselves into the science system in the long term and developing their professional and personal skills.
BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has now sent Julia Braun as a Fellow for the first time. Ms. Braun conducts research on sustainable mobility at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg at the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Planning, Innovation and Foundation, and is working on the acceptance of new technologies in the automobile as part of her doctoral studies. Julia Braun has also been actively involved in BTU committees for several years and stands out in particular for her commitment to equality and diversity. "Through the program, I have already been able to network with many exciting people and I really appreciate the interdisciplinary exchange with other young female scientists," says Ms Braun. In addition to several publications in print and online media from ZEIT Verlag and campaigns to increase the visibility of the outstanding young female scientists at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, the focus was on topics such as science communication and career paths in the scientific landscape.
BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is a partner of the fellowship program, which fits in perfectly with its funding strategy under the motto "Equal opportunities, diversity and compatibility". The BTU funds and supports female scientists in particular on their career path in a variety of ways. In addition to targeted structural measures to improve the framework conditions for young female scientists, this is also done through individual funding measures such as scholarships, travel grants, printing and publication grants and the funding of special smaller projects. The aim is to sustainably ensure equality at all qualification levels in the academic system and to increase the number of female academics in top positions.
