Language Courses

At many universities in Germany, it is often easy to communicate in English and therefore not a problem if you do not speak German. However, while staying in Cottbus / Senftenberg, in addition to researching and teaching, you should also go out and explore city life. In order to better integrate and experience the local community, an adequate knowledge of German will greatly help.

University Language Centre (ZES)

The language centres of the university offer a wide range of courses, including German as a foreign language. In small group sessions, you have the possibility to either learn a new language or continue practicing one you already know. BTU students and staff members do not have to pay for the language courses. Please keep in mind that language courses have limited space and often fill up quickly, so please register as soon as possible: Registration and information.

Other opportunities to learn German as a foreign language are offered by the various language schools and institutes located throughout the city:

Furthermore, another way to learn German is to take part in a special integration course (Integrationskurs). These courses are particularly interesting for partners of international researchers, because they are intensive and take place over a longer period of time.
