Jan Strumiłło studied architecture at the Technical University of Warsaw (Politechnika Warszawska). In 2007 his diploma project Dobra/Drewniana (good/wood) was awarded the Małgorzata Baczko and Piotr Zakrzewski prize for the best diploma project. He gained rst practical experience working for JEMS in Warsaw before - under the guidance of Dietmar Eberle - he achieved his master’s degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zürich) with a focus on housing. Subsequently Jan Strumiłło worked as an architect for Baumschlager Eberle in Switzerland and Austria. 2010 he started his own practice in Warsaw. Since 2013 he is a research fellow at e Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) in Oslo, Norway.

Jan Strumiłło is the author of the book "Ukryty Modernizm" (Hidden Modernism). His main interests are dwelling and housing and their interdependence with sociology, economy and sustainability - and he loves timber architecture. His building tasks range from urbanism through architecture and interior design to graphic design.

His belief, that in today’s world researches can generate new solutions for an old problems let him co-found the Eastern European Study ink Tank (EESTT) in 2010 – an independent research body focused on architecture and design.

Warsaw for Jan Strumiłło is a special place and the cultural context for a creative person is very important, which explains why he decided to go back there after studies in Switzerland - looking from a distance, we learn to notice the special features that surround us.
