Decentralized equal opportunity officers

The decentralized equal opportunity officers of the departments and organizational units, together with the central equal opportunity officer, support the university in fulfilling its equal opportunity mandate. They are each elected for a term of two years. Up to two deputies can be elected.

Tasks

In their office, decentralized equal opportunity officers assume a variety of tasks. In principle, they are the contact persons on the subject of equality for all members of the department or organizational unit. They participate in numerous commissions and committees within the department and across the university. Their participation in personnel decisions in appointment and staffing procedures is central. They receive complaints and are also trusted advisors in cases of sexual harassment, discrimination and violence. They support the respective departments and institutions in the creation and implementation of equal opportunity goals and actively participate in the Equal Opportunity Council.

Relief

To relieve the burden of their honorary office, decentralized equal opportunity officers at the BTU can apply for support for their responsible work. Information and the application form for funding a student/research assistant can be found here, and the Office of Equal Opportunity can provide further information and support with the application process.

Professionalization

The Equal Opportunity Office supports the work of the decentralized Equal Opportunity Officers and their personal development through targeted training opportunities and regular networking meetings. In the meetings of the Equal Opportunities Council, in informal meetings and in personal discussions with the Central Equal Opportunities Officer, the actors exchange their experiences. Here they consult with colleagues, receive up-to-date information on university policy, and report on each other's successes and challenges.
