Hopetoun House, am Firth of Forth bei Edinburgh, ist der Sitz des Marquis von Linlithgow. Entworfen und gebaut von Sir William Bruce zwischen 1700 und 1710 und seit den 1720er Jahren mit Hilfe von William Adam und seinen Söhnen erweitert, wird das Haus noch immer von der Familie Hope bewohnt.

Hopetoun hat sich in mehr als 300 Jahren als eine Kombination aus eleganten Räumen in einem klassischen Rahmen entwickelt, komplett mit Möbeln, Gemälden und Objekten, die von der Familie in Auftrag gegeben und gesammelt wurden. Das historische Ambiente wurde und wird durch die Gärten und die gestaltete Landschaft aufgewertet.

Als aufwendig illustrierter Bildband getarnt, um für ein breites Publikum attraktiv zu sein, präsentiert das Buch "HOPETOUN - Scotland’s Finest Stately Home" Forschungsergebnisse einer Reihe von Spezialisten. Es bietet Informationen und neue Einblicke in die Geschichte der Familie, in die gestaltete Landschaft, die Architektur und das Innendesign, die Möbel und die Gemäldesammlung sowie Kapitel über den neuen Walled Garden, und zudem die Vision für die Zukunft von Hopetoun.
