Chika Ubaldus Ogbonna BURP (Hons.), MSc.

Chika Ubaldus Ogbonna is a PhD Candidate at the Chair of Civil Law and Public Law with References to the Law of Europe and the Environment at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU), Cottbus - Senftenberg.
Mr. Ogbonna holds a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Imo State University Owerri, Nigeria and MSc in Environmental and Resources Management from the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. He has worked in the field of sustainable development holding different positions - accomplishing different tasks in different capacities.
Mr. Ogbonna undertook the United Nation's Headquarters graduate internship in fall 2009 where he undertook wide-ranging research responsibilities and contributed substantially to the preparation of the 2010 Report of the Secretary General on progress made towards the achievement of sustainable development. This was accomplished through a review of the implementation of Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Action, which integrally involved analysis of the ongoing, economic, social and environmental challenges being faced by the international community, particularly developing countries. He also assisted in providing Secretariat support for the negotiations being undertaken during the UN General Assembly on the resolution which set the parameters for the 20-year High Level Review of Agenda 21, adopted at the Earth Summit in 1992. This UN meeting on Sustainable Development was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2012. He also provided support to several discussions related to climate change organized by the UNDESA New York. This experience also influenced positively to Mr. Ogbonna's choice of PhD study in the area of climate change adaptation.
