New waterjet cutting system at Cottbus

Together with Fraunhofer PYCO, the new waterjet cutting system was put into operation last week.

From 24 to 26 March, the training and thus the commissioning of the STM 1020 Cube waterjet cutting system took place. During the three days, an employee of STM Waterjet GmbH Germany instructed staff from Fraunhofer PYCO and BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in both the operation and maintenance of the system. The STM 1020 Cube enables a wide range of materials (e.g. plastics, CFRP, aluminium, steel) to be cut into a predefined geometry using both pure water and abrasive additives with a maximum size of 1 m x 2 m and a material thickness of up to 300 mm. The cooperation between Fraunhofer PYCO and the Chair of Polymer-based Lightweight Design enables both research institutions to use this precise form of material cutting.
