Magdalena Meißner

After studying Gender Studies at Humboldt University and Religious Studies at Freie Universität in Berlin, Magdalena Meißner worked at the Institute for Social Innovations and the Technical University of Berlin. In addition, she completed training as a social justice and diversity trainer during this time. Both the studies and the further education focused on topics of social inequalities as well as recognition and distributional justice. These foci continue to inform her research activities in the area of sustainability.

Magdalena Meißner's research interests are mainly focused on social justice in local, national and global contexts, in particular the distribution of and access to resources at different levels of society. Another focus is on the interplay of biographical events and the (self-)empowerment and procurement of access to (new) social spaces. In the thematic field of repairing and DIY, she is particularly interested in the connection between sustainable consumption practices and transformative learning processes.

In my view, the connection between technology and the environment is an ongoing negotiation process that needs to be worked on in order to achieve a positive relationship in favor of the environment.
