External users at the central campus
External users of the BTU data network are users who do not have BTU affiliation status. Currently, these may include:
- Holders of a central BTU account with the account type: External
- Holders of a library account (university library)
- Holders of a guest account for events
- eduroam users from other universities/research institutions
External users who connect to the BTU data network on the central campus via the established access services (e.g. wireless LAN, LAN access in public areas of the BTU) are granted the same rights to access services on the campus network as users who establish a data connection from outside the campus network (from the Internet).
The end devices of external users can be identified directly by the automatically assigned FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name), which has the form *.ext.b-tu.de.
Note for administrators: Access rights for network connections (from external users' computers in the campus network) can be extended to the self-administered server system by submitting a firewall request.
