Download and installation
1. Campus-wide access to MATLAB at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Access options for MATLAB, Simulink, and extension toolboxes

Students, faculty, and staff > INDIVIDUAL / Institution for personal use (via the MATLAB portal)

Students, teachers, and staff can download a personal standalone copy of the software for each computer on which they are the sole user (applies to computers at work and at home). Simply visit the MATLAB portal at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, where you can download the software and activate your license. Installation instructions can be found here.

The MATLAB portal also provides access to online training courses and further information.

2. Centralized use via servers and data centers on campus > CONCURRENT – NETWORK LICENSE / Setup for administration via data centers on campus

(Concurrent)

To use MATLAB in classrooms, laboratories, or similar locations, you should use the Concurrent Network license. To use MATLAB here, you must be connected to the network and thus to the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg license server. Further instructions and help are available here.

3. Non-networked computers with multiple users > CAMPUS – DESIGNATED COMPUTER / Setup for non-network shared computers

For single-user computers that do not have a network connection and are used by multiple people, the campus portion of the TAH license should be used. MATLAB will run on such computers without network access once the software has been downloaded and the license activated. Further instructions on setting up the campus license can be found here.

FAQs

Is the campus license unlimited in terms of the number of individual licenses? If not, what are the limits and how would you ensure that the department has access to its existing licenses?

Yes, the license is for an unlimited number of licenses. However, for technical reasons, a number is entered for the activation keys (calculated based on the number of students). There has never been a higher usage and, in an emergency, we would increase this limit.

Is the borrowing function used for operation on private computers or is a VPN tunnel to a central license server required?

VPN is not necessary, but would still work. Borrowing is also not necessary. Private computers can be licensed via the Matlab portal.
