Authorised users

he Microsoft software provided via BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg may only be used by persons who are authorised to do so under the applicable Microsoft licence terms.

Employees of external companies, organisations or other legally independent institutions are not authorised to use this software. This also applies even if these organisations are closely affiliated with BTU, were founded by the university, are involved in joint projects, or use BTU premises or infrastructure.

In particular, involvement in a university project or a spin-off does not, in itself, confer any right to use BTU’s Microsoft licences.

In the case of projects or spin-offs involving mixed employment relationships, a distinction must therefore be made:

  • BTU employees: Use is permitted in accordance with the applicable BTU licence terms.
  • Employees of an external company or institution (e.g. a GmbH): Use of the Microsoft licences provided via the BTU is not permitted. The necessary licences must be provided by the respective employer or institution.

The right to use the software is determined by the respective employment or contractual relationship, and not by organisational or geographical proximity to BTU.
If you are unsure about your right to use the software, please contact software(at)b-tu.de before installing or using the software.
