Configuration of user devices

The following requirements must be met on your PC for LAN access in public areas of the BTU:

  • You need a 10/100BaseT network card and an RJ45 patch cable. Please refer to the manufacturer's documentation for driver installation. If you want to use a fibre optic port (e.g. in LG3A), you will also need a fibre optic <=> copper converter (plus cable) or a fibre optic (FX) network card.
  • The TCP/IP protocol must be installed on your computer. Your computer will automatically obtain all IP parameters from a central DHCP server. To do this, set the properties for the TCP/IP protocol of your network card to: Obtain IP address automatically (via DHCP) and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
  • To establish a connection, you need an Internet browser that supports ‘https’. Proxy servers must be deactivated in the browser settings.

Connect your computer to one of the network sockets listed under Availability. When you start your Internet browser, a login page will be displayed. There you can start and stop your connection and check the status. We recommend adding this page to your bookmarks.

Alternatively, you can also access the login page manually at http://access-gate.b-tu.de .
