VPN service

Members of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg can log into the BTU campus network via an Internet provider of their choice. This ensures full access to internal services.
Remote branch offices of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg can be integrated into the campus network without expensive leased lines.
Members of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg are granted access to the resources of the campus network when working outside the BTU (e.g. abroad or at other universities).

In order to use the VPN service, additional software (Cisco Secure Client) must be installed and configured on the corresponding PC.
The overhead of the VPN tunnel reduces the transmission speed (depending on the strength of the encryption and the client software).
Errors on the transmission path (packet loss) are amplified during encrypted data transmission.
