Security aspects
Network security measures
- Access to the campus network and the Internet is only granted after authentication.
- In the eduroam network, authentication is carried out in accordance with the IEEE 802.11i standard with WPA2/AES encryption. User data is encrypted using AES directly between the access point and the user's PC.
Security measures to be taken on the PC
- File and printer sharing for Microsoft networks should be disabled unless absolutely necessary. Any resources that are shared should always be protected with a secure password.
- If possible, secure your private key (*.p12 file) with a password.
- Activate a firewall on your system.
- Protect your PC from viruses, worms and Trojans with an up-to-date virus scanner.
- Windows operating systems should be regularly updated with Windows Update to close security gaps in the system.
- Passwords for your PC and network services should be changed regularly, at least once a quarter, and never stored permanently on the PC.
- Wireless transmission is not encrypted on the ikmz and btu-gast networks. Users of these networks are responsible for securing the data they transmit (e.g. with SSL or VPN).
