eduroam - Service description

The BTU's eduroam network has been integrated into the German and global eduroam service since May 2010, which is designed to enable Germany-wide and cross-border use of academic networks (worldwide).

eduroam provides cross-institutional network access to the scientific network. Users log in to the guest institution's network using the user account they already have at their home institution.

This allows members of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg to use the wireless LAN of another university or research institution, provided that it also participates in the eduroam service.

Conversely, members of other institutions can use the wireless LAN of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. The prerequisite for this is that the home institution of the respective user also participates in the eduroam service.

Note: User support for all matters relating to the eduroam service (e.g. first-level support, user training and configuration of end devices) is provided by the respective home institution of the user.
